The first International Petroleum Technology Conference and Exhibition (IPTC) welcomed as of noon on the final day of the show 2,533 visitors from 47 countries for the inaugural event held on 21-23 November 2005 in Doha, Qatar. Sponsored by four leading industry societies, AAPG, EAGE, SEG and SPE, IPTC featured more than 250 technical papers delivering information focused on exploration, production, reservoir and midstream gas while bringing together the perspectives of multiple disciplines including petroleum engineering, geology and geophysics.
"The success of the first IPTC demonstrates the vibrancy of the oil and gas industry," said Abdul Jaleel Al-Khalifa, IPTC Management Committee Chairman. "In addition to a thriving venue, the multi-discipline technical programme shows IPTC's commitment to becoming one of the most significant and comprehensive gas and oil conferences in the Eastern Hemisphere."
