Petronas Twin Towers

Malaysia is one of Asia’s safest countries, boasting a vibrant and colourful combination of Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures and customs.

The capital Kuala Lumpur is a thriving cosmopolitan city of 2.3 million people and is one of the region’s most prosperous capitals. Fondly known as ‘KL’, it has become a modern, bustling city with a rich blend of colonial style buildings dotted amidst modern structures such as the imposing Petronas Twin Towers.

Standing at 451.9 metres, the Petronas Twin Towers are the tallest twin towers in the world and have become an internationally recognised landmark.

Language

Bahasa Malaysia is the national language however Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi and Tamil are often spoken in cities. English is widely spoken throughout Malaysia.

Climate

Malaysia enjoys sub-tropical weather throughout the year with temperatures hovering from 22-33 degrees Celsius (90 degrees Fahrenheit). December is traditionally the rainy season so an umbrella or protective clothing is recommended.

Currency

The Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) is the official currency in Malaysia.

Time

Standard Malaysian time is eight hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Electricity

Voltage is 220 - 240 volts A. C. at 50 cycles per second.
