IPTC "EXCELLENCE IN PROJECT INTEGRATION" AWARD

The Excellence in Project Integration Award, recognising distinguished achievement by a company or companies for integration of multiple disciplines and execution for major petroleum industry projects, may be awarded upon recommendation from the International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC) Awards Committee and approval of the IPTC Board of Directors.

Eligibility

The conditions of eligibility are as follows:

  • There are no limitations regarding the nationality or geographic operation for a company to be nominated.  The term company shall include any size or type of commercial organi sation and institution. Companies may submit up to three project nominations.  Jointly developed projects are eligible for nomination and the project will be counted as 1 out of the 3 submissions per company. Project submissions by company subsidiaries will account as 1 of the 3 submissions allowed per company.
  • To be eligible for nomination and consideration by the Awards Committee, a company shall have made a distinct and unique achievement in the successful execution of an integrated E&P or natural gas project.  To be eligible for nomination, a project must involve expenditure of over USD  500  million equivalents. The project under consideration must be complete (delivery of product to market) prior to submission of nomination form. Additionally, a project will not be accepted for nomination if its completion date is more than four years prior to the first day of the IPTC programme for the year the award is presented.
  • This award highlights all aspects of the project from inception to execution. The Awards Committee places emphasis on four criteria: excellence at each stage from inception to completion; the local, regional, and international impact of the project; new technology applied to any stage of the project; and execution of the project on schedule, on budget, and in compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental regulations.
  • The company, organisation, or institution must designate and send a representative to receive the award at the IPTC Awards Banquet.
  • The company, organisation, or institution must agree to present one or more technical papers describing the winning project during an IPTC special session on Integrated Projects at a time and date designated by the IPTC Programme Committee.
  • Award recipients, as well as any selected runners-up, must agree to create, display, and present a technical poster describing their projects at IPTC during a poster session designated by the IPTC Programme Committee.

Selection

The following procedures shall be followed by the Awards Committee in selecting nominees for the Excellence in Project Integration Award:

  • The IPTC Awards Committee Co-Chairmen shall send to each member of the Awards Committee a list of all eligible nominees.  Committee members also shall receive copies of supporting documentation that includes a one-page summary of the project and full nomination forms for each nominee.
  • The Awards Committee members will select finalists from the nominees list.  Finalists then will be asked to prepare a longer (up to 10 pages) document detailing the merits and achievements of the nominated project.  While the Committee may use alternative methods for determining the finalists to be considered, a recommended procedure is that each Committee Member list three candidates in rank order. From these lists, the Chairman will determine the projects to be included on the ballot.
  • Deadline for Submission of the 10-page manuscript is 1 October 2009.
  • The committee will meet in early October to select award winners.  The nominated project receiving the most first-place votes of the Committee Members in attendance will be the selected recommendation of the Committee.
  • A joint award may be presented to more than one company, organi sation, or institution if recommended by the IPTC Awards Committee.
  • The two nominees not selected for the Award who have the highest rating shall constitute the first and second runner up, respectively.  All other project nominees not selected will form an active list for future consideration with the understanding that a project is only eligible for four years after its completion date (delivery to market).  After being on the active list beyond the four-year window without being selected, nominees are removed from the list.
  • Information from the recommended project(s) will be sent to IPTC executive committee for approval.  No award determination shall be considered final until approved by the executive committee co-chairs.
  • Notification will be sent to the award recipient(s) 30 days prior to the first day of the IPTC programme.
