MOGEC: Are Engineers Still Relevant in the World of AI / Digitalisation

19 Feb 2025
Malaysia Showcase (Hall 2, Ground Level)
Exhibition Seminar
MOGEC has aligned its vision, mission statements, and objectives to ensure that it remains relevant to its industry, the oil and gas industry, while championing the wellbeing of the engineering disciplines within it. MOGEC knows that engineering has a pivotal role in the energy transition landscape. Engineers will need to step up and embrace this change that requires them to use their core knowledge to path the road forward. Engineers in the oil and gas industry can contribute towards sustainability and the energy transition by the following:
  • Design: design systems and solutions that have a low impact on the environment, with the consideration of circularity
  • Problem Solving: solving complex problems through the use of tools and processes to simplify problems and apply fit-for-purpose solutions; at times, the solutions would be innovative and creative, providing a new approach of doing things
  • Value Creation: Engineers create value by being able to look forward at the potentials that solutions may bring to present problems, thus creating opportunities for the future
It is this aspect of engineering, as a value creator and problem solver, MOGEC sees the importance to ensure engineers and the engineering disciplines remain relevant as the world, locally and globally, continues to transition to newer energy landscapes and sustainable practices.
