IPTC 2024 Young Member Activities Overview

The oil and gas industry continues to invest in initiatives aimed at engaging young people in the energy sector in order to ensure the world’s ever-growing energy demands will be met, and our future lies in the hands of the upcoming young talents, who will pave the way by ‘inventing solutions, leading the transition!’  IPTC supports this initiative through a set of dynamic educational activities held in conjunction with each edition, targeting young talents at different stages in their educational and professional careers.  From high school student teacher training to undergraduate university students choosing their career direction to young professionals looking to develop timely skills, the Young Member Activities (YMA) aim to provide a platform to help launch and develop careers in this diverse industry.

EMERGING LEADERS FORUM

EMERGING LEADERS FORUM - International Young Professionals (YPs)

Calling all future leaders looking to enhance their professional and management skills! The IPTC Emerging Leaders Forum will offer the opportunity for YPs to get together for a day of inspiration, education, and collaboration.

This interactive one-day programme aims to bring together high-performing individuals, who are at the earlier stages of their careers. The Forum will appeal to YPs looking to advance into management and hone their professional skills by learning from key executives in the industry.  Additionally, this event will give emerging leaders the chance to engage with their peers to discuss the industry, and how the new era of leaders will contribute to its future development.  The emerging leaders will also have the chance to engage with industry and management professionals from around the globe, providing attendees with the chance to debate critical issues, develop vital skills needed for the future of work, and address key challenges.  Activities may include leadership simulation training, panel and speaker sessions, round table discussions, and more.

A Young Professional (YP) is defined as someone aged 35 or below or having less than 10 years of experience in the industry.

EDUCATION WEEK

EDUCATION WEEK – International Undergraduate University Students

Top-performing university students will be the ones to shape the future of energy, and IPTC recognizes the importance of providing real-life experiences outside of the classroom to help develop these young talents.  In each edition of IPTC senior undergraduate science, geoscience, and engineering students from around the world are invited to participate in IPTC’s Education Week. The programme aims to give students a unique and exclusive insight into the industry they are about to join, allowing them to return to their universities and colleges with a positive story to share with their peers. They will be given the opportunity throughout the five-day programme to form new friendships with colleagues from around the world, whilst working together on a joint activity, as well as many chances to interact with major industry employers who are looking to recruit the best talent. Under the theme of ‘Shaping the Future of Energy,’ participating students will walk away from this edition of Education Week with long-lasting connections and memories.

NOTE: Students’ travel and accommodation will be covered by IPTC through sponsorships.
