The IPTC Sustainability Excellence Award recognises the outstanding efforts and impacts of companies in the upstream oil and gas industry, in innovating, adopting, and promoting key aspects of sustainable energy development at scale. To be eligible for nomination and consideration by the Awards Committee, a company, organisation, or institution shall have made a distinguished achievement in, or contribution to, the field of societal value, health and safety, and sustainability, circular economy and energy transition process towards low carbon technologies, with a minimum capital investment of USD 50 million that has added significant value to the country it is executed in, in the past 5 years and six months from the scheduled conference date (i.e. qualification period is 24 March 2022 to 24 September 2026). This award also celebrates initiatives that prioritise the well-being of people and communities, demonstrating a commitment to human-centered energy sustainability.

Can include new technologies, innovations or processes that:
- Reduce GHG emissions
- Water conservation/management
- Waste management
- Eliminate/minimise impact on the local land or marine environment or improve on it

Submissions entered in multiple categories (Project Excellence or Sustainability Excellence) will be evaluated only under the category deemed most appropriate by the Awards Committee.
- There are no limitations regarding the location of the company or an institution to be nominated. The terms company, organisation and institution shall include any size or type of commercial organisation, governmental agency, educational or research institution, or professional or technical organisation.
- The company, organisation, or institution must designate and send a representative to IPTC to receive the award during the IPTC 2027 Awards Ceremony, on Wednesday, 24 March 2027, in Bangkok, Thailand.
- The Winner will have the opportunity to present their project in a showcase session during the conference on Wednesday, 24 March 2027.
- Submissions will be evaluated and ranked based on clear and measurable impact of the information provided within the 10 slides.
- A joint award may be given to more than one company, organisation, or institution in one year if recommended by the IPTC Awards Committee and approved by the IPTC Advisory Board.
- In the event that a company, organisation, or institution is awarded the Sustainability Excellence Award for one IPTC event, they are no longer eligible to receive the same award for the same project at another IPTC event. However, they can submit a nomination for a project that has not previously been recognized by IPTC.
- Nominations will remain active for two (2) years.

Winners will be required to provide a video montage (60 seconds/1 minute) to be presented during the Awards Ceremony.
How to Nominate
- Complete IPTC Nomination Form.
- Submit presentation of no more than 10 slides, highlighting features of the nominated initiative/project in line with the listed criteria.
- Qualification Period: Project completed in the past 5 years and 6 months to the first date of the event only will be considered for the award: 24 March 2022 to 24 September 2026.
